GUEST SPEAKER and PROGRAM:

International Press Club of Chicago is proud to announce Dr. Hande Ozdinler, Associate Professor at the Department of Neurology at Northwestern University, as our Guest Speaker for the month of April to present "Communicating Science and Art with Media".

Dr. Ozdinler is an Associate Professor at the Department of Neurology at Northwestern University. Her research focuses on Lou Gehrig's disease and is currently working to develop treatment strategies for this devastating disease. She is also a painter, the inventor of OzdinART, a new form of EBRU.  She recently received Trademark both for the name and the technique, as it is a novel form of painting.  Together with her husband Dr. Ozyurt and many other friends, they initiated Art Loves Science Foundation, a nonprofit, to promote science with the love of art.  Dr. Ozdinler also serves as an International Press member since 2001 and the Board Member since 2018, reporting on issues related to science and technology.  Therefore, Dr. Ozdinler is in this rare position where she connects the worlds of science and art, and she feels the need to communicate developments in both domains effectively to the public.

Please join us on this special IPCC luncheon.  We will cover topics on how to communicate with press about issues related to science and technical innovations and what press members could do to expedite community interest to both science and art, as these are the two important pillars that holds us together and moves us forward.  Our members and guests will have the chance to examine some OzdinART paintings, and Dr. Ozdinler will be available to answer questions about recent advancement in ALS research.
