About our speaker:
A lifelong adventurer, John has dodged avalanches and bullets on three continents.
Recognized as an expert communicator and storyteller, he writes books, articles, and blogs, and appears as a guest speaker on podcasts and as an interviewee on radio and television. He delivers speeches around the world.
John is the Executive Director of the Giraffe Heroes Project (giraffe.org), a global nonprofit that inspires people to "stick their necks out" for the common good and equips them with the tools to succeed. He is also a peacebuilder in the Middle East and Africa, as well as in environmental conflicts across the United States. His work inspires and empowers individuals to find greater personal meaning through service and by helping to solve significant public challenges.

Get ready for one of the most thought-provoking and attention-grabbing luncheons ever.
Is the rise of AI a boom in human flourishing or our demise? The answer is “yes.” Bill
will discuss the accelerating risks involved in the rise of the machines, the experts’ fears
about the dangers we face in the immediate future, and the damage we have already
sustained from the universal dependence on computers. We will look at applications like
ChatGPT and compare what they do to what the human mind does. He will describe
how we win and lose through their use. This will include a new report on how these
programs deliberately deceive users. Bill will sketch out the likely advances in
resource expansion and material well-being that AI will deliver by midcentury.

​Bill Ryan is a consultant at Curving Time Communications where he advises clients on digital forensics, advanced approaches to electronic discovery for litigation and investigations, and the effective deployment of AI in business and government. Bill is Board Secretary of the Chicago Chapter of the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists and is a Relativity Generative AI Pro.
