About the Event

Program: “25 Years of Research at Göbeklitepe: A Summary of Past and Recent Results”

This is a special presentation by Dr. Lee Clare, an esteemed archaeologist and coordinator of research and fieldwork at Göbeklitepe. Dr. Clare will share the history of the oldest temple in the world, Göbeklitepe. This is the stunning site of recent archaeological discoveries of massive carved stones about 11,000 years old, predating Stonehenge by 6,000 years, crafted and arranged by prehistoric people who had not yet developed metal tools or even pottery. Guests will enjoy a fascinating presentation including an exhibition of photos from the Göbeklitepe excavation site, one of the world's most ancient mysteries in southeastern Turkey, and a Q&A session with one of the world's leading archaeologists.

Event is sponsored by the Consulate General of Turkey in Chicago & Yunus Emre Institute
